“A Genial Hack,” Part 3: Peter Ibbetson — 4 Comments

  1. I've only seen this movie once. I have to be honest . . . I don't really like. My dislike has nothing to do with the movie's quality. I have to admit that it is a first-class film. I simply found it depressing and rather disturbing. I was young at the time. Ironically, the movie reminds me of "PAN'S LABRYNITH" in a way. So, perhaps I might be more open to it after so many years.

  2. Welcome, Joyce! Glad I (and Google!) could help, and I'm not surprised Peter Ibbetson has haunted you all these years; exactly my point. Netflix has it, and so does Amazon, as part of The Gary Cooper Collection. The rest of the collection is awfully good, too.

  3. I saw this film on TV when I was a child and it has haunted me for over 40 years. I could never remember the name of it, though, until I Googled "film peter in prison dreams of lover" today and found your post. Thank you so much! All these years I could never find anyone else who had seen it and I began to wonder if I had imagined it in MY dreams! Next stop: Netflix.
